21-Year-Old ID'd As Victim In 2-Vehicle Long Island Crash

One person was killed in a crash involving a pair of vehicles on a Long Island roadway.

The 21-year-old had numerous injuries and died at the scene, Riverhead Police said.

It happened around 8:20 a.m. Sunday, Oct. 6 in Riverhead, near a Target on Old Country Road.

A 2024 Kawasaki Ninja ZX6R, operated by Christian Gutierrez, age 21, of East Hampton, struck another motorcycle, a 2006 Yamaha R6, operated by Rodolfo Castillo, age 54 of Southampton. 

Gutierrez had numerous injuries and died at the scene, Riverhead Police said.

The Riverhead Police Department Detective Division and the New York State Police Forensic Investigation Unit responded to the scene of the incident to assist in the investigation.

No criminality is suspected in the case at this time, however the investigation remains ongoing, police say.
